The 2015 Nepal earthquake (also known as the Gorkha earthquake), has killed more than 7,000 people and injured more than twice as many. It occurred at 11:56 NST on 25 April, 2015 with a magnitude of 7.8M. Hundreds of thousands of people were made homeless with entire villages flattened across many districts of the country. Centuries-old buildings were destroyed, including many UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Kathmandu Valley. Aftershocks have continued to occurred throughout Nepal within 15-20 minute intervals.

We, at The Little Bazaar work with many local Nepalese small manufacturers and weavers to get our clothing styled produced. We have gotten in touch with some, but understand that many workers (who work with their hands on our clothing through its various stages) are in a pretty desperate state.

They are in need of some very basic but very fundamental things: they need help to buy food like rice and vegetables, need trampolines, rugs, clothing; books and stationary materials for their children, etc. Many have lost all their assets under the rubble of their collapsed homes; some partially and others completely. Many can't find safe shelter to cover their heads during nights. Our local contacts are trying to collect whatever is available, including any subsidies in an effort to rebuild their homes. Some workers are not able to connect with their families who live in remote hilly villages, and that makes them very uncollected...they and their families need all the help they can.
